Mobclix iOS SDK 4.1 – Now Available

We are happy to announce the release of our 4.1 SDK for iPhone/iPad which contains a great deal of improvements that continue to make Mobclix the best ad management solution for developers.

Full Support for iAd

The Mobclix 4.1 SDK now fully integrates with iAd seamlessly.  Developers can control what percentage of their ad calls they want to make to iAd via the Mobclix Dashboard and the SDK takes care of the rest, automatically making all the necessary calls to iAd for you.  Developers don’t have to do any switching between iAd and Mobclix on their own, simply install the Mobclix 4.1 SDK, make all your ad calls via Mobclix, and enable iAd as one of your ad networks via the Mobclix Dashboard.  As usual, in the event that iAd does not have an ad available Mobclix automatically rolls over and fills with an ad from one of your other configured ad networks.

Easy Open Allocation Integration with AdMob

In addition to our support for iAd we are also including full compatibility with the AdMob SDK.  Users who have had to integrate with this SDK separately using the Mobclix open allocation feature in the past will find this process is now taken care of for them in the Mobclix 4.1 SDK and no custom code is required.  Simply install the AdMob SDK into your application, enable it on the Mobclix Dashboard, and make your ad calls to the Mobclix SDK.  We take care of everything else for you!

New Mobile Banner Size Support for 320×50

One obvious change for developers in the Mobclix 4.1 SDK is that we have removed support for the old 300×50 banner size and replaced it with the now standardized 320×50 ad space.  We’ve had numerous developers asking for this over the past year and we are happy to finally make this available.  If you are new to Mobclix, you probably wouldn’t think about this much, but existing users may have some questions about how this transition will work and we’ve got all of your answers (hopefully) in our FAQ.

More Improvements Under the Hood

In addition to all of the major improvements listed above we have also spent time on many of the smaller things such as adding the ability to control more advertising options via the Mobclix Dashboard, simplifying our local storage, removing the dependency on SQLlite, and adding in more ad targeting parameters.

Improvements to the Mobclix Dashboard: Invoices, Transparency and Speed

Beyond just the new iOS 4.1 SDK we’ve also released some great additions to the Mobclix Dashboard.

You can now view your payments/invoices via the Mobclix Dashboard by clicking the “Account” tab and selecting the “Invoices” link. This section will continue to evolve; however, this is a starting point for providing more transparency from the networks that we support so that developers feel confident that they’re always getting paid what they’re owed, when they’re owed it.

Speaking of transparency, we’re now listing the Requirements and Estimated Sign Up Time for each network that we support so developers will know how long each network takes to get up and running and for what reasons. We will continue to offer more information to further educate our developers about what goes on between Mobclix and the networks once you hit that “Sign Up” button.

We’ve also made some major changes to our Dashboard that will provide significant speed improvements. You’ll notice instant improvements from the moment you login. Even more speed improvements are on their way as we work to optimize our infrastructure in the coming weeks, so the best is yet to come.
