Featured Mobster ‘Where are They Now?’: Sputnik Games
| Posted By : Laura In : Featured Mobster
Recently we caught up with Mark Andrade, founder of Sputnik Games, to see what he’s been up to since we featured him back in February. In just 6 months time he has developed 10 new apps while keeping his popular app, Fish Frenzy, in the Top 20 Kids Games…impressive huh? Check out what else he had to say…
The Stats:
- Current App count: 21 (11 Free and 10 Paid)
- Downloads: Sputnik Games hit it’s second anniversary this month with a bang, 7 million total downloads!
What strategies have you employed to keep your users happy?
I try to keep users happy by updating games with their requests, frequent updates and replying to every support question as quickly as I can. I’ve even helped some people who had issues with other apps thinking they were mine. I also try to fix bugs as fast as possible.
What challenges have you faced?
My biggest challenge is dropping 2.x support for iPhone and iPod touch and keeping those users happy. This made quite a few people upset. Also, updating my apps to 3.x and now iOS 4.0 broke a fews things and they were missed during testing. So I’ve been bringing the apps up to speed to support 3.x and 4.0 OS flavors.
How have you be able to increase revenue?
Revenue increases when I release updates so I try and release updates to apps when I can. I’m currently updating my apps with a mini web view on the title scene, this let’s me send notifications of new games and updates any time by just updating some html on my server. I’ve also seen revenue increases when Mobclix adds new network partners. Also since Mobclix made it easier to add iAd, I’ve seen a nice increase in revenue for Fish Food Frenzy Free.
What new tools are you excited about?
I’m really looking forward to Windows Phone 7 and XNA. I’ve never used XNA before until a couple of weeks ago. Once I read up on C# and XNA it took less than twelve hours to port Cowabunga. Now I’m working on porting Fish Food Frenzy to XNA and Windows Phone 7.
